The
official kick off of the wakeboarding season in the Midwest is just
around the corner! The Illinois River is begging to be shredded and
it’s time for you to try out some new gear for 2008!
Midwest
Militia, along with a slammed list of sponsors, is once again teaming
up to give you the opportunity to ride before you buy your latest set
up or wake boat. As in years past, the Busted Prop in Ottawa, Illinois
will play host to Midwest Militia’s May Demo Days. The site sits on a
back channel of the Illinois River and there are miles and miles of
flat water riding in either direction.
Local pro shops,
including Liquid Sports Online, will be offering the latest gear from
Ronix, Gator, Liquid Force, Slingshot and more to demo. They will also
have a full line of gear and accessories from all the top brands like
O’neill, Helium, Rip Curl, Oakley, CIRE Boardshorts, Central Clothing
Company and others for you to check out.
No Boat? No problem!
Local dealers and top manufacturers will have the latest models on hand
for you to demo. Check out the new Supra 21V courtesy of Ultimate Wake
Watersports at Chicago Sea Ray, the latest X-Star from Chicago
Mastercraft, the newest Nautique’s from Dockside Marine and recently
added, the new MB Sports Tomcat, courtesy of MB Boats and
Onlyinboards.com. Once you are tired of demo-ing boats and gear stop by
the Militia Booth For some SOBE No Fear Energy Drink, because we will
have plenty on hand for the participants!
Tentative Schedule:
Friday the 16th:
Show up anytime to setup camp, bring your boat or find a pull and
free-ride all day. You may even get a pull behind one of the brand new
boats before anyone else. Party and DJ at the Busted Prop.
Saturday the 17th:
Demo Day—Check out 2008 Boats, Board and Gear: Mastercraft, Supra,
Nautiques, MB, Ronix, Gator, Slingshot, and more. Look for raffles and
the Midwest Militia Season Kickoff party to follow.
Sunday the 18th:
Whether you decide to pack up early and hit the road or you’re one of
the diehards that stick around and ride all day, you will never go home
from a Midwest Militia event without some great memories.
Event Info: On site boat/RV parking and camping (fees apply) available—
$20.00 per campsite,
RV (or vehicle if you are sleeping in your truck) for the weekend.
There are also hotels within a few miles of the site for families or
those that might be looking for a more mellow evening. Camping charges
also cover your use of the onsite boat launch or some like to use the
free, nearby public boat launches (See one of our event staff for
directions or assistance).
